Sad visibility

We are underway from Puerto Rico to Florida. There is little wind. At times the water is 'flat', meaning not with little (or big) spiky hoods. A pod of Atlantic spotted dolphins came visiting. For me it was a new specie to sight. We passed at about 10-20 meters three resting sperm whales rafted together. Another first-time-to-see for me. And again I felt the disappointment and frustration of not being able to see the whole picture.
In Africa, where I'm from, the elephant, or antelope, is camouflaged until you see it. And when you see it in the complete picture, all your senses are confronted with the mightiness of the creature. And you re-evaluate life in many ways.
Here on the oceans, one sees a glimpse of what we know are fascinating creatures. Many times at no distance. In fact, frightening close distances. Yet, the picture and the experience is but the 'tip of the iceberg'. Sadly, on the ocean, one passes by mighty creation with 'knowing' but not 'seeing'.
(A spermwhale is 11 - 18 meters long [our boat is 10 meter]
and weighs 24 - 57 tonnes [our boat max 9 ton]
Their lifespan is 60 -70 years.
